I’m creating a private customer page that can be accessed only via a user/password. Is there a plugin for that purpose?

There’s many different ways to accomplish what you’re looking for.
Take a look at the theme my login plugin https://wordpress.org/plugins/theme-my-login/
You’ll also need a membership plugin such as ultimate member to protect the pages with https://wordpress.org/plugins/ultimate-member/
