• For the past few weeks I’ve been having issues with slowness and 500 Internal Errors on my site: http://huntingbusinessmarketing.com

The site has been up since Sept 09 and up until now Dec 09 the performance has been fine. Since the slowness began about a week ago my traffic has dropped significantly since regular visitors are having issues waiting for the site to load or are having issues with the errors.

I have spoken with Go Daddy about the issue with long load times. I’ve installed WP-Super-Cache Plugin at their recommendation and the issues remain. They have suggested that upgrading hosting plans may or may not help the issue.

My hosting is WordPress Hosting – Economy on Go Daddy.

I also use Wishlist Member Plugin for membership access on some posts. Up until this point there has been no issue.

Note – I do include quite a few images in my posts and even have a post with 50 embedded videos. I’d like to stick to my current posting patterns as much as possible.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks,

    Dayne

  • Pretty much with godaddy I’ve found….the higher up the price chain you go with their hosting, the better it gets.

Of course this is a generalization….depends on how loaded the server they put you on is, etc.

I started at economy, but need more databases, etc so moved up a notch. Then I started exceeding my bandwidth, so I moved up to deluxe unlimited.

I saw a definite improvement gain at each step….and a reduction or elimination of some errors (like sql connection errors, etc).

So basically, if you are going to have server intensive webpages….its probably going to be slow, and there is no guarantee of a performance increase with shared hosting, even if you upgrade

Thanks for the advice. I’m checking a few other things. Any thoughts are much appreciated.

sure. YYou could always go for a VD or dedicated server! of course…unless you are raking in the bucks from your websites….it’s a tad steep 😉

Also, every once in a while, I have had service hiccups with godaddy. Yours may just clear up. My sites have never gone down, but they’ve gotten terribly slow

Update: It appears the issue was with Go Daddy. After tinkering around for 5 weeks the slowness issue magically disappeared.

I can’t say for sure what the issue was, but it appears to be with Go Daddy. Hopefully it doesn’t happen again. It obviously hurt traffic.

But all is good for now. 🙂
