ERR_TIMED_OUT only on desktop

Hi all,

Recently my site has had intermittent cases of ERR_TIMED_OUT in Chrome browser on a Macbook Pro. When working normally the page opens quickly and even when it’s down on the desktop it still opens with no problem on iPhone Safari app. The dashboard also becomes unavailable meaning I have to wait for the problem to pass before I’m able to change any settings.

When troubleshooting another issue with the theme another member has been unable to access the site as well.

I have deactivated a load of the Catch plugins that came suggested. I have pinged my site while it was down and it scored 120 but was still reachable via a ping testing site on Chrome. I also pinged my host company and that came back at 1.

I have some large photos used as featured images but only one per page and some audio but I don’t believe they should be a problem. I have also used a small bit of custom CSS to edit the banner image positioning but no more code based customisation than that.

I have seen the codex regarding this error and have tried those which aren’t super destructive. I’m hesitant to install a fresh theme currently before the general site content is finished.
