(1) Are you using a CDN (e.g., Cloudflare)? If so, create a page rule to bypass caching of your sitemap.
(2) Are you using any other caching plugin? If so, same as above.
(3) Did you deactivate Rank Math to see if the issue disappears?
(4) Did you flush Supercacher’s cache (or turn it off temporarily) via cPanel?
(5) What plugin are you using to generate your sitemap? Was it updated recently?
(6) Did you try Rank Math’s troubleshooting procedure?

Thanks for the detailed response @jetxpert. See below for my responses.

3. Yes but I am using Rank Math to generate the sitemap so it returned a 404.
4. Yes
5. Use Rank Math to generate the sitemap but it was updated recently. I rolled back to a previously version and that appears to have fixed things although things have been a bit flaky. Will need a few more days to see if it is stable.

9. Link didn’t work for me.
After reviewing I believe this may be a Rank Math issue.
With regards to SG Optimizer, will I still be able to use Dynamic Caching AND Browser Caching while excluding the sitemap from these features? I can exclude the sitemap from Dynamic Caching however I don’t see how to accomplish that with Browser Caching.

Sounds like the recent Rank Math update may be causing the issue.

You can also try the solutions provided here (long list). Looks like you’re not alone. Rank Math appears to have a few “bugs.”
Concerning your question about excluding your sitemap from browser caching, I’ll have to defer it to SG. However, not sure why you wouldn’t want your sitemap to be cached.
