I have been usinf updraft for sometime now and i save 5 backups to a remote server – all is working fine. However i have only just noticed that there are 70 zip files stored locally as well !!! these are going back to 23/10/19 – not sure if there was an upgrade around that time.

I have the box checked in the settings to delete the local files
    ——————————————–
    Delete local backup:
Check this to delete any superfluous backup files from your server after the backup run finishes (i.e. if you uncheck, then any files despatched remotely will also remain locally, and any files being kept locally will not be subject to the retention limits).
    ——————————————–

any suggestions as to how to correct this as i would prefer the local files to be removed after use .
    Many thanks

    Hi,

It is possible that the backups are failing to complete at some points. UpdraftPlus will only delete the backups if it has successfully complete.

Please can you try to rescan your local/storage link and see if that shows you all the list of backups from your storage. You can then delete them from the “Backup Restore” tab or manually delete them directly on your remote storage.

    HI
    Thanks for the response .

it seems odd that so many would fail, looking at my remote backups i have 5 as expected with no indication of errors.
i will monitor the next few backups and check the log files to see if that highlights any problems.
Is there any other way to run ‘something’ after the backups to ALWAYS delete the local files?

    Regards

    Hi,

    Apologies for the late reply.

Please check the option “Delete local backups” option from UpdraftPlus > Settings > Show Expert settings. This will delete the backups on your local server after the backup successfully completed. If it fails to complete, then UpdraftPlus won’t the delete the files.

    Regards,
    Bryle
