• I’m trying to install on Web.com. I’ve downloaded, extracted and uploaded the WP files. From the Web.com CP, I’ve created a database and a user/pw. I saved the information and changed the wp_config file to reflect the db, un and pw names and uploaded it to replace the wp_config_sample file. I get an error message when I try to run the install.php script. I called Web.com. They said they don’t support WP, but added that they host many WP blogs. Support said I need to go into the phpadmin and create tables and fields for the database I created in mysql. I don’t see anything like that on the WP support site or even the youtube videos on installation. I’d really appreciate any help with this.

I am now being asked for a un/pw to access my site. I tried the un/pw for the database I created for the blog, but that combination is not being accepted. When I cancel the authorization request, I get a 401 Invalid credentials message. This morning when I spoke with Web.com tech support, the tech told me that I need to create the database for wp from phpadmin. Here’s what they sent to me:

Here are the steps on how you can access phpAdmin to the supportsite: 1. Login to support.web.com. 2. Click on Manage MySQL. 3. Under the database tab choose phpAdmin. 4. You can create a database for your wordpress.

When I do this, it asks me for table names and how many fields for the db. I thought the wp script set that up and I don’t see anything in the installation instructions for this. I’m at my wits end with this. Thanks for responding.

wp creates from its own the needed tables.
    1- create your new db
2-install wp by following 5 minutes installation steps.
3- be sure to enter correct parameters in wp-config file (rename it).

Ok, I’ve done everything exactly as the installation instructions indicate. Still get a Internal Server error message. I set up my databases, user and pw, and changed the wp_config file. I uploaded everything, still get the error message. I’m wondering if it’s a problem with the host, web.com? I’ve checked, double checked and re-checked every letter and space. I even took the old files off the server, downloaded a fresh copy of WP and uploaded fresh. Could it be the host?
