    Hey everyone,

I’m a total newbie to WordPress but already very impressed with the easy installation, handling and theme adding. I’m currently playing around with layout configuration on a test space but hit a dead end trying to add top menu bar items and sub pages. Right now there are “Home” and “About” and I can’t get past that.

Also, I don’t have a clue how to add different boxes to the sidebars to house e.g. Google ads, Links etc. I’ve of course consulted the WP manual but didn’t find my way through it, so any help you can offer will be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks in advance!

The WordPress version is 2.8.6; I accidentally chose the wrong version.

Although dependent on the theme, in most cases your “top menu bar items” will propagate with the addition of new pages.

As to the sidebar, it seems you are referring to widget areas, again theme dependent but generally included with most. This page may help: http://codex.wordpress.org/Managing_Plugins

Oh, I feel thoroughly embarrassed now *lol* All the time I was looking for a coding solution while I had the simplest solution right before me. Thank you so much for the info and link!

No worries, everyone has been in your place at one time or another; and, the embarrassment goes away as the newness wears off. *grin*

Amen to that! And thanks again for your help!

Edit: I just solved my widget problem *lol* so I edited my post.
