    Hi, team

I’ve recently published https://kiwikidsmusic.co.nz and I am running into an image with the Yoast SEO set og:image for Facebook shares. I have changed the image URL but the Facebook scraper and the head meta tags have not reflected the update.

    Old URL: https://kiwikidsmusic.co.nz/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Cropped-Kiwi-Kids-Music-Logo.png
    New URL: https://kiwikidsmusic.co.nz/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/KKM_WCircle.png

We have cleared our WP Engine cache and I’ve re-attempted the change but I cannot seem to get it working.

    • Facebook debugger error and result
    • Meta tags
    • Link setting

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Kind regards
    Caleb

    Hi @calebnz,

    Thank you for reaching out.

We checked the URL and your screenshot (thank you for including them!). The setting you are referring to is the default image and is only used when the following conditions are met:

    – No images on the page
    – No featured image
    – No custom image set in the Yoast metabox for the post/page.

So for the homepage, if it’s a custom page that is configured to be the homepage, please edit the page and update the Facebook image in the metabox.

Additionally, we see that the image URL shows fit=170%2C60&ssl=1 in the URL, we are not really familiar with that. Apart from the WPEngine cache, are you running any other caching plugin or CDN for your images? If so, please also clear it to see if that helps.

Hey @jeroenrotty – wow, thank you! Sorry for not realising this. Adding the image on the page’s Facebook settings via Yoast solved the issue.

RE the caching, we do use WP Engine and they have a CDN but I’m not sure of anything additional on top of that sorry! If you want me to dig for you, I’m more than happy. Just flick me a message or email.

    Regards
    Caleb

Happy to hear it’s sorted @calebnz, no need to further dig into their caching if the issue got sorted :-).

    Have a great day!
