It’s either, an incompatible plugin or theme with the newer version of WordPress. Or the upgrade hasn’t installed fully installed.
FTP into your site, then rename the plugins directory to something else temporarily. Does it bring up your site? If it does, you should be able to narrow it down to the particular plugin fairly easily. Rename the main plugin directory back to what it was originally, then rename the individual plugin folders one by one etc until you can work out which it is.
If that doesn’t work, do an old fashioned manual upgrade. Download a fresh copy of WordPress:
http://wordpress.org/download/
Delete the wp-admin and wp-includes folders, FTP them back again using the files in the ZIP. Re-upload the files in the root directory again. During that process, don’t touch your wp-config.php or your wp-content folder.
Thank you alism !
I have tried for the past hours but still could not restore the site. I have done a clean manual installation but the result is the same. Hmm… I regret upgrading. Any more helps would be greatly appreciated.
Of course my last resort is to rebuild the entire site by removing the existing database and wordpress !
Actually, you did say you can see your posts in the admin side of things didn’t you, sorry. De-activate all your plugins and switch to the default theme.
Hi alism,
Many thanks for your continual assistance!!
I have resolved the problem by asking my web hosting service provider to restore the web contents to an earlier date. Frankly, up until now I have no clue where goes wrong. The website is blank even if I do a clean reinstallation of WordPress, very scary!
Once again, thanks for your help!
Regards
Hi Aslim,
I have a similar problem with MarketWizard. I can see my home page and all the posts in it (7 pages in all), but the other pages are blank.http://bestwirelessebookreadingdevices.com/ I also upgraded to WordPress 2.86. I can also see all the pages on the admin side. Should I do what you suggested?
I have deactivated all plugins and activated the default theme. I have also reversed what I did but the situation is the same. I noticed there is an updated version of the Mystique theme. I am going to install it and go through the process of redoing everything I have customized. I hope this will work.
Hi edekin,
I’m not sure that yours is the same problem. You can try deactivating your plugins to see if it helps, but you’ve got a lot of errors in your code which might just be preventing browers from rendering the page correctly. I’d make those the first target and see what happens after that.
Thanks Alism, How do I resolve these errors?
