Orders being counted multiple times.

Our plugin only transmits purchase data to Google Ads. It also transmits the transaction ID which is used in Google Ads internally to deduplicate orders, which means you don’t have to worry about duplicate orders in Google Ads.

Google Analytics (GA) on the other hand doesn’t deduplicate orders, even when the transaction ID is transmitted. GA does have some deduplication capabilietes, but only very limited, which can lead to inflated sales data (in average 10% what we’ve seen so far).

There are several reasons why GA is counting certain transactions more than once. One is, if a visitor reloads the purchase confirmation page after the session has timed out. Or when he saves the link of the purchase confirmation page and re-opens the link on another device. And probably there are more reasosn that I haven’t thought of yet.

There are a number of ways how to prevent GA inflating sales numbers. They all require some technical prevention methods that need to be implemented on the shop. Not all of them work equally well and might not work in certain setups.

We can’t fix inflated GA data for you as support for our plugin, as this is out of scope of our plugin. But we have the expertise on doing it. For that you can contact us under sales@wolfundbaer.ch

Generally you can’t stop reloading the thankyou page.

There a number of ways how to prevent the reloads to be double counted.
