• Hello, I purchased a domain (mydomain.co) and was using WP to build a website. I could only access it from mydomain.co, and I wanted to also access it by using http://www.mydomain.co.

I read online (first mistake?) that I should simply go to my wp-admin page, then Settings/General, and add “www” to the URL in both boxes near the top. (I now forget exactly what they said but one was WP-related and the other was general.)

Now, nothing works! I can’t even access the wp-admin site. I think it’s because now the browser is looking for http://www.mydomain.co/wp-admin, which is a site that doesn’t exist! So I can’t even go back to delete the “www.” As soon as I added “www”, the page updated, and gave me a 404 error. I tried to go back to remove www, but since it was now looking for a nonexistent page that didn’t work. I can’t access my site through bluehost (because BH just send me to WP, which is where I built the site).

    Any ideas?? Thanks!

  • You need to make some changes in your hosting admin panel to make your site accessible with www subdomain. How to return WordPress back to old version of the domain name see here:

    Changing The Site URL

WordPress will redirect all domain name you are pointed at it, to the domain which is in it’s setting and this is right way to do, because you don’t need several sites with the same content, it will be no good from search engine optimization point of view. So, it’s better to decide one name and stick to it. Still, your site better be accessible with www and without just with this redirect to original version of the domain name.
