Hi @robbytherobot
If you’re logged in as an administrator you get the message about managing subscriptions for posts.
Regular visitors get the options to subscribe when they visit a post.
Thank you for your reply, but I had thought of that and already tested with a user who is a subscriber.
Logged in as subscriber, they also get the “manage subscriptions” link but there are no subscriptions to manage when you click it.
So there is still no way to subscribe to a post at this point.
I’ve switched to comment mail for now, but having problems with that too (subscribers get email notifications but to date I cannot get a single email notification as administrator even though my email is listed on the subscribe page!), I don’t know if that’s your plugin or someone else’s though. I’ll use whichever achieves what I want as simply as possible in the end!
If it helps I am using Learndash LMS maybe there is a clash or configuration with that?
OK, now for some reason after deactivating Comment Mail and re-installing StCR, I am getting the expected behavior with the option to subscribe.
However, I still have same problem that my subscriber (wordpress) user, can subscribe as usual and manage their email notifications etc, and that user gets an email every time I as admin make a comment.
But when the subsriber user makes a reply, I as admin do not get any email at all. If I go to manage subscriptions on the comment, logged in as admin, I am listed as subscribed to that thread.
1) I am logged in as a subscriber user and adminstrator on 2 different machines to test, so am replying back and forth to each
2) WordPress is clearly sending emails out, as the test subscriber gets the notifications
3) It’s not a problem with email receipt, as I am using an alias in the same account for the test user which is receiving emails fine and nothing is going to junk
4) I have double check admin email in wordpress settings and that is not the problem – i AM receiving ordinary wordpress admin emails such as changed password or new user registration. just not comment notifications (even though subscribed!)
Any ideas at all?!
Just an update – I seem to have got this working now, and finally with StCR not comment mail.
No idea what has happened but all of a sudden I had a load of messages appear in my junk folder.
Could these have got “stuck” on my email provider’s server filter somewhere and got backed up? That’s the only explanation I can think of at present, as this wasn’t working for half an hour, I didn’t change anything, and now things are working…???

Hi @robbytherobot
StCR initiates the emails as soon as a comment is approved.
You can install the plugin WP Mail Logging to see exactly when StCR (all outgoing emails via WordPress) called the WordPress function to send an email.
If it shows up in there immediately but you receive with a delay, most likely the hosting provider adds a delay to the emails.
