Could be part of the troubles using alpha versions. Maybe upgrade to a newer build and try that. Version 1.5 is now a beta, and is more stable that the 1.3 alphas.
Considering the sudden increase of trackback spam, you should consider it a bless 😉
It took me 30 minutes to figure out how to turn that incontrolable trackback off ! I’m not ready to turn it back on.
@nuclearmoose: You’re right, but I changed so a lot of scripts, that an upgrade will takes hours.
Some weeks ago the trackbacks worked well with my 1.3. So I hoped, that I could have a look to some single lines in the scripts and subtiude 2 or 3 files with my backup files. But I don’t know, which files and lines are responsible for trackbacking …

Indeed: my trackback-URL has shown something like “…/blog/trackback/artile-name” – now I changed it to “…/blog/wp-trackback.php/26” – it seems, it works fine!

My trackback doesn’t work either. (WordPress2.0)
It doesn’t send pings to other blogs when I use its “URIs for trackback”. My blog is a coletive blog. It only send a ping to another post when I put a link for it in the text. Otherwise, i.e., when I try to send a ping through trackback field, it doens’t work. What is the problem?
