Currently running the Setup Wizard- but have stopped at the Search Console option.
My site is NOT “live”, do I want to setup the Search Console now or wait until I’m “live” ?
Also, shall I do my SEO stuff while I’m NOT “live” or do it “live” ? (Yoast recommended doing the SEO stuff BEFORE going “live”.)
You can connect your site even if it is not live as the Search Console step only pulls the data from the Google Search Console and displays that inside WordPress in a digestible form.
With that said, we highly recommend going through the following guides to set up the plugin completely and correctly:
Been watching the videos and reading the tutorials and I’ll continue (starting with your sent links). I just wasn’t sure what to do in my case (I know I can setup Search Console later).
Thanks to your videos, I’ve had an epiphany about a great keyword phrase (I think) to get some “rank” for my “About” Page.

One more –
Dyad-2 is my Theme, which is a blog. On the setup I can choose to be a blog or small business. A small business setup, as I understand, would focus on being (more) “Local” rather than “National” or “Inter-National”; I prefer to be “Local”. (Having the “local” option was one of the reasons I switched to RM). However, the site is NOT a local business – my intent is to focus on one.
Any thoughts about which to choose ? Or does it just “boil down” (easier said than done) to having “Great” SEO ?
You should set up everything related to SEO even if you are not live. That would give you an edge once you are live and Google crawls your website, Google’s bot would notice all the proper meta tags on your pages.
Yes, you can choose a small business site in the available dropdown during the setup wizard.
Also, please note that ranking on Google depends on so much more than just your on-page optimization. You could have the perfect article and still struggle to break the top 10 in SERPs. Here are some of the factors Google considers when ranking you:
1. Your website’s authority.
2. Your content’s quality and how better it is than the other article currently ranking.
3. How competitive the keyword is.
4. How many backlinks you have and if they are better than what the other guys ranking for that keyword have.
