Proper way to upgrade WP?

    I have the 2.84 version and want to upgrade. I know I have to disable all plugins, but should I delete old WP files? In my past upgrades I’ve never done that. Where are they?

    In most cases you can do the Tools->Upgrade without deactivating plugins.

    But here’s one suggestion.

    1. Backup your files
    2. Backup your database
    3. Deactivate plugins
    4. Do Tools->Upgrade
    5. Reactivate plugins
