Hello Jaco,
I’m not able to test this issue on your site.
Could you please provide more details?
What terms are you searching for?
Is the translated text included in the products?
Let me know!
With the best regards,
Hi Dragos,
Thanks for gettingg back to me.
So I have written all my texts on the site in Dutch, and have used the TranslatePress plugin to translate string by string in English. The problem is that none of the translated words (so translated from Dutch to English) give any results in the search on the site. Typing in Dutch words in the search boxes will give you the results, typing in ANY of the words that are on the site in the English version, i.e. those that I put in each string using Translate press, are not searchable/no results.
This is a huge problem as I expect to have both Dutch and English language users, and the English language users should be able to search for products or other keywords using the search boxes provided by WordPress.
Thanks again in advance,
Cheers,
Jaco
Hello Jaco,
We have just implemented the multilingual search functionality so the feature might present bugs.
Is your TranslatePress updated to the latest version?
Also, could you try briefly switching to a default theme?
So we exclude any incompatiblity with the theme that you are using.
Please keep me updated on this matter.
With the best regards,
Hello Dragos,
Thanks for your answer.
I have just moved to the last version of TranslatePress (Version 1.6.7).
But this does not appear to have changed anything…
Regarding: “Also, could you try briefly switching to a default theme”; not sure what you mean? I am using the OceanWP theme currently.
So still no success unfortunately!
Thanks again,
Cheers,
Jaco
Hi Jaco,
What I meant by a default theme is something like Twentysixteen.
Let me know if it changes anything.
Best regards,
Hi, thanks, still not sure what it would mean to switch to the default them Twentysixteen, or how I should do that. The site is currently built with OceanWP by my website builder, and I don’t know how to change or what the consequences are and how to turn it back if beed be. Meanwhile, I really need the English texts to be searchable… Is there more information on this or is there any other way? Would upgrading to a paid version solve this? Thanks again!
Hello,
I don’t think that a premium license would solve this issue.
The plugin searches only for content that is available in the title, so searching for keywords in the site or product attributes won’t work.
Could you disable any caching plugin that you use and re-save the translation for that product then try searching again?
Make sure that the product’s title is translated.
With the best regards,
