So I noticed after the recent updates to Recipe Maker, it messes up Yoast SEO. For example, the minute I add a recipe with Recipe Maker, Yoast says I don’t have any outbound links, no internal links, “the keyphrase or its synonyms don’t appear in the first paragraph, text length is 0.

The problem is those are all wrong. I do have links, I definitely have way more than 0 words, and the key phrase is most definitely in the first paragraph. If I remove the recipe, it all shows up correctly.

Anyone else having a similar issue?

Our latest update should make sure the recipe part isn’t taken into account for the Yoast Readability score (since recipes have a specific structure and won’t follow their rules).

But it’s affecting blocks outside of the recipe for you?

Yep the moment I add the recipe block, it messes up the Yoast SEO and Readability scores. If I remove the recipe block, the scores return to how they should be. It wasn’t having this problem before the latest update.

I’ll be able to do some testing tomorrow!

I’m testing things right now but I don’t see to be able to replicate the problem in either the classic editor or Gutenberg block editor.

The Yoast analysis, just ignores the recipe block/shortcode and only takes everything outside of it into account, as is supposed to happen.

You’re using the latest version of both our plugin and Yoast SEO? Using the block editor?

    Thread Starter Matt

    (@mrchef111)

mmm weird. Yeah, I am using the latest version of both.

Are you using the block editor?

    (@mrchef111)

Yep I am using the block editor. I am leaving now to go out of town. I will circle back in a few days when I get back. Maybe I can provide screenshots then to show you exactly what is happening. πŸ™‚ Thanks for your help, Brecht.

    Hi again,

I had another customer with this problem that helped me figure things out. It was a bug where things would break if you added a Jump to Recipe or Print Recipe block at the top.

Should be fixed in the latest 5.10.5 version I just released. Could you check if that’s the case for you?

Looks like it works great! Thanks!! πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

@furig20 Do you actually have other post content outside of the recipe itself? It’s normal that WPRM does not count the recipe box itself in Yoast.

Hi Brecht thank you for getting back to me. I’m writing the title and after that I’m creating the recipe with WPRM without writing outside of the recipe. I’m using the template straight. Am I missing something? Like that I’m having a lot of SEO errors. So if I’m using this plugin I cannot be SEO friendly? Thank you

Yoast SEO should be used for optimizing the post content outside of the recipe box. If you don’t have any post content then they won’t have anything to analyze.

That doesn’t mean it’s not SEO friendly. Our plugin takes care of the recipe metadata for SEO.
