I tried inputting the API and PID in all right locations, click “Connect” and nothing happens, just turns blank.

I go to the debug console and it doesn’t say anything.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

I tried it again later today and it came up with and error in red, “you need to active the billing option in Google console”

I don’t remember reading having to enable this in the installation guide. It wants me to put in my credit card information into the console.

    Hi @dbzsbestfighter,

Sorry, could you send the debug information from the settings page of the plugin (Advance’s tab) to support [at] richplugins.com?

The free Google API key can make 1 request per day and it should enough to connect one place, but we need to check your Place ID, sometimes it’s relate to a street address and not for a Google business and one free request spent for that unnecessary request and you see the Google exceeded error.

    Thanks!

By adding a billing account to use this plugin… if we only need to embed Google reviews will we be billed anything by Google? I believe that is not the case and this is similar to a required billing account to embed Google Maps on a website but cannot find a firm yes or no. Thank you!

    Hi @tderouindesign,

The free Google Places API key can make 1 request per day, if you need more, Google will require to enable a billing.

The 1 request can connect 1 Google place.

    Thanks!

Thank you for the prompt and detailed reply!

ChIJv2fg_GuDt4kRvpPeJWIkCXY is the location key. When entered in the app, it states that “The provided API key is invalid”. can you help?

    thanks

    Hi @maggotbrain,

Please send the debug information from the settings page of the plugin (Advance’s tab) to support [at] richplugins.com.

PS: I think your Google API key is wrong.

    Thanks!

    Hi @maggotbrain,

This one ‘ChIJv2fg_GuDt4kRvpPeJWIkCXY’ is a Place ID, it’s not a Google Places API key and you don’t need to save it in the settings. You need to use it when you connect your Google location in the widget or shortcode.

The Google API key you need to create by the instruction from the settings page:

    1. Go to your Google Console https://console.developers.google.com/apis/dashboard?pli=1

    2. Click ‘Create Project’ or ‘Select Project’ button

    3. Create new project or select existing

    4. On the project page click ‘ENABLE APIS AND SERVICES’

    5. Type ‘Places API’ in the search area

    6. Select the first result ‘Places API’ and click ‘ENABLE’ button

    7. On the ‘Places API’ page select ‘Credential’ tab and ‘Create credential’ / ‘API key’ option

    8. Copy created API key, paste to this setting and save

Also, we have a video tutorial how to create the API key: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kf_bkg7WeC0

    Thanks!
