I was wondering if you could assist with something. I have a header i’m designing with Elementor and noticed that there is default content shown when designing the header: https://share.getcloudapp.com/eDuxYBwQ. It’s rather distracting and if I recall correctly, other themes don’t show this, rather it’s just the blank white page below it. Any ideas on how to have it removed when designing templates?

Hey @qwik3r, as I know, other themes are also showing the content underneath when you are designing the header.
In some case this could be distracting but in some cases not, because you could see how your header will look in combination with the content.

By the way, just curious, what themes are not showing the content when you design the header with Elementor?

    Cheers.

I understand that would be useful. I believe the Hello theme for one. You do see from the screenshot though that it’s not very useful with what is displaying right? It basicallys ays the page title of the element itself, a black background, red text, barely visible social icons. It more or less looks like a “mistake” or “oversight”. It’s not helpful in designing the header for instance. I suppose I can change the preview settings but maybe it needs to be set to the homepage by default, not sure why it’s showing the page of this element.

If you click the gear in the lower left corner, you can switch the layout to ‘elementor canvas’ and remove the header entirely.

That’s not what I mean. Let me try to explain this again.

When I went to create a header template it shows content below the header, as you said most themes do this to give you context.

What I”m trying to say is what is being shown by default is some random page that is obviously pulling from the Elementor post type for the header template. I sent a screenshot, so you can decipher the rest yourself. This is obviously something that has to do with the theme, not Elementor.

Even with the preview for the homepage selected all I see is the page for the actual header template: https://share.getcloudapp.com/Qwu7Qx7g.

Hey @qwik3r as I know this is a normal Elementor behavior, I tested this even with Hello Elementor theme, and they also show the page content when you edit the header – please see the screenshot.

We will take a closer look to see if we can do something here, but I can’t promise nothing…

Hope you will understand me right.

    Cheers.

Yes I see the page contents as well and I switched to Astra. The difference is that as you pointed out, you can change to ‘elementor canvas’ when editing the actual page (not in Elementor) for the header template — a feature that is not available with your theme.

The whole point of this is it’s extremely distracting to see the misc irrelevant information that pertains to the post type of the header, you do get what I’m saying right?

@qwik3r first of all I did not guided you or mentioned something about the Elementor Canvas, you saw a comment from madebyproxy, but we are not affiliated with him…

Regarding your notes, I’m not quite sure I understand you 100% but as I can see Astra is also showing the page content under the header when you edit the header template.

Also, please be more descriptive and let me know what feature is not available in our theme? a screenshot would be great, so I could understand you easier.

    Cheers.

We use Hello theme for our site as well, so definitely not a theme issue. That’s just what it looks like when you edit your header. If you’d like to see your what your header looks like on a live page while editing, just keep another tab open on your chosen page and hit refresh after making edits to the header. This is especially useful when working on a white text/transparent background like ours!

    Theme author:

In the simplest terms, it would be great to just not see any content on the theme builder page. This might have everything to do with Elementor and nothing to do with your theme, so just trying to assess where one could fix this. I’ve seen themes where when editing the header, there is no actual content on the page thus making it less distracting — does that make sense?

@qwik3r yes, that makes sense but please give me a few examples of themes where you saw that so we could take a look and see what we can do πŸ™‚

    Cheers.

I mentioned the examples. At this point I don’t have time to keep going back and forth. I showed you a screenshot, that should be more than enough to compare. If you don’t feel it prudent to listen to people who use your theme (and future potential customers) to do anything about it no worries.

    Thank you!

Hey @qwik3r I think you didn’t understood me correctly, we are always listening our users in order to improve Blocksy, this is very important for us and we take this very serious.

You did mentioned only Hello Elementor and Astra themes but none of these themes are doing what do you want (they also show the content under the header) but you are keeping to tell me that there are themes that do this – so, I asked you kindly to give me an example of such theme so I could inspect their code and see if maybe we could implement this too in Blocksy.

Hope you will understand me right now…

P.S. Waiting a theme example from you where you don’t see the page content when editing the Header Template.

    Cheers.

My examples are Hello Theme and Astra. Yes they do show something below you are correct. With the hello theme it actually shows the homepage. With your theme it shows the header post type — that is my main area of contention here, that it’s showing the post type for the header that I am editing where as the other themes it seems it shows the site or at least the homepage.
