importing xml problem …please read

Ive got a database is 22mb as a .xml file and i want to import it however it times out/says “done” when it reaches around 6000 posts. The databsae has 19000 posts .. how can i fix this please? what are the settings i need in php.ini would be greatful for any info.

And yes i have tried sql its comming up with errros ..
