• A few of my readers have reported that each time they want to login to post a comment they are prompted to change their password, the old one didn’t work. A regular reader told me last night that she has written the passwords down so she *knows* they’re correct, but the screen asks her if she has forgotten it, then prompts to send her a new one. She says this happens *each* time she attempts to comment.

Anyone know anything about this and how I can rectify this situation?

  • Registered at your blog, then logged in and out four different times and had no problem.

And I logged in from your ‘front page’ as well as from http://www.sisterspetpics.com/blog/wp-login.php

    Can you duplicate?

Might consider problem could be caused by a plugin…

Are they using saved passwords in Firefox or some such?

Hmmm. Good questions, both. I will ask both people who told me this last evening. Good to know you didn’t have any problems with this, but because the stats show quite a few views every day, I’ve wondered why so few people comment. I want to make it easy.

MichaelH, I use Mike Jolley’s Sidebar Login. Could this be a problem? Do you know of any other people having trouble with this?

Ipstenu, I’m going to check to see if they’re using saved passwords, but shouldn’t it work anyway? About a month ago someone told me they checked the ‘Remember Me’ box in the Sidebar Login plugin and it never remembers them. It had always worked for me until recently. Now it’s working oddly. Sometimes it simply does not log me off unless I select the log out link. I could shut down my computer and it still kept me logged in. But this is intermittent only, and it seemed to have stopped that odd behavior sometime last week.

If Mike Jolley’s Sidebar Login is the problem, can you suggest a good login plugin that *doesn’t* take the user to the Dashboard after logging in. I want to keep them on the front end and just give them the option to go to the Dashboard when they select the link.

    There is this: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/peters-login-redirect/

Not sure the Sidebar Login is causing you a problem, but I tagged this thread so maybe the plugin author might comment
