The above seems to happen when you have the manage on front end option off. Turning it on fixes the problem as a temp fix.
@irishetcher this could be related to the unloading of the top WordPress admin bar (the black one). Are you saying that you need to have the CSS/JS manager turned on to fix this? Can you make a print screen of it? You can use a service such as https://imgbb.com/ and add the link to the image here. If you can also send me privately your “System Info” from “Tools” (plugin’s menu), that would be also good as I’d like to check out the settings you’ve applied.
Hi Gabe,
Looks like this was a false alarm. When I logged in today and checked all seems fine again. When the Manage in the front option was used it corrected the issue fo the las few days. When I turned it off today everything was OK.
Could it be something to do with something other than the plugin over caching a bad page load of my site when logged in?
All is fine anyway.
@irishetcher I’m glad everything worked out! One issue I’ve noticed (e.g. with Cloudflare, but not with SiteGround) is that you have to be careful when using the caching engine from CF because you need to make sure the pages that should be visible only for the admin are not visible for the guests too. That’s why some prefer to hide the top admin bar to avoid this situation. As far as I recall (when tested it a few months ago), you needed to upgrade to a higher CF plan to set specific cookies that when used (the logged-in cookie), the page will not be cached.
Checkout this post: https://community.cloudflare.com/t/how-to-disable-cache-for-logged-in-users-member-wordpress-site/73965/5 – There’s a mentioning about it there: If you’re using a a plan which supports bypass cache on cookie. you can bypass for logged in users.
If you’re with SiteGround (or any other hosting), make sure their caching engine is properly set up and no pages for the logged-in users will ever be cached and shown for guest visitors.
Thanks Gabe,
Good to know, I will definitely look into that, wouldn’t be good to have the admin bar on show.
