• I Currently have a Maintenance page loaded while I rebuild the website.
However when previewing any theme I am unable to get the default homepage to load regardless of the theme. 404 page not found error.
When previewing the site the home page always loads index.html.
I have searched the forums and tried reloading the .htaccess file as suggested, resaved permalinks etc.
There is no index.html file in the root folder, but there is the index.php.
The folder structure and install was done automatically by justhost.
I’m at a loss of what I’m doing wrong.
    Thanks in advance

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

I have that page up whilst i built the website, the issue i have currently is the live preview whilst building, if I preview the site the homepage always goes to 404 page not found and the url is centralcoastgangshow.org/index.html. I can manually navigate to the home page vial the menu links but its this index.html problem I’m trying to resolve.
My understanding is that the htaccess file should direct the page to load from index.php and land on centralcoastgangshow.org/home but this isnt the case it always reverts to index.html

You might try asking your host but I’m thinking that maintenance page is all you’ll get using that system.

You might try installing a maintenance plugin in your WordPress itself and let it take over maintenance duties. Most of the maintenance plugins I’ve seen will allow the logged-in admin to see the production site as live.

I think this one is supposed to be pretty good…

You’ll probably need to do something at your host to get Mojo out of your way but I think those instructions are on the default page displayed.

    Thanks JNash
I had that plugin running earlier until desperation set in and I deleted the entire site and started again. (i have put it back up now until i can resolve this issue.

This is what I am experiencing.
Editing the site within the admin console I can select any Theme for site
When I go to live preview the Home page always returns 404 error
I can click on the links to the other pages and they always display.
If I manually type centralcoastgangshow.org/home the home page displays.
If i click on the home link it brings the 404 error page up.
The url displayed is centralcoastgangshow.org/index.html when i click the home link.
Any other link i.e Contact will bring up the url centralcoastgangshow.org/contact
I have the htaccess and index.php files in the root directory.
If i publish the site visitors will be greeted with a 404 error page and no way of getting to the home page.

I have uninstalled Mojo and other unused plugins.
There are no redirects running on the host
I have tried adding directoryIndex to the htaccess file.
    re-saved permalinks a hundred times.
just seem to be going round in circles.

    Thanks
