WP automatic update failed

    I have 5 WP sites. All 5 are with the same web hosting firm on the same server. The automatic update feature works on 3 and on 2 it fails and I get the message below:

    Downloading update from http://wordpress.org/wordpress-2.8.4.zip
    Unpacking the core update
    Could not create directory: /hsphere/xyz/abc/xxxxxx/cannonspeak.com/wp-content/upgrade
    Installation Failed

    Does anyone have an idea of what the problem is?

    Sounds like you should check your permissions in that account to see if you (and WP) can create new diectories without problems. How to do that depends on your hosting and whatever control panel you might be using. Or, check with FTP.

    I used Filezilla and found I could create new folders in each of the roots. Any other ideas? Thanks.
