    Hello!

I have got this email when trying to enter a quiz’

Since WordPress 5.2 there is a built-in feature that detects when a plugin or theme causes a fatal error on your site, and notifies you with this automated email.

In this case, WordPress caught an error with one of your plugins, HD Quiz.

First, visit your website (http://mysite.com/) and check for any visible issues. Next, visit the page where the error was caught (http://mysite.com/wp-admin/admin.php?page=hdq_quizzes) and check for any visible issues.

Please contact your host for assistance with investigating this issue further.

If your site appears broken and you can’t access your dashboard normally, WordPress now has a special “recovery mode”. This lets you safely login to your dashboard and investigate further.

    http://mysite.com/wp-login.php?action=enter_recovery_mode&rm_token=pnbKl320v2ZT8SusGr2K2G&rm_key=IzpE9DreB5dU0l5vNsi6Gu

To keep your site safe, this link will expire in 1 day. Don’t worry about that, though: a new link will be emailed to you if the error occurs again after it expires.

    Hi Tamas,
unfortunately, this indicates that there is an issue with your installation of PHP on your server/hosting account.

The error is Call to undefined function mb_strimwidth() – basically meaning that the PHP function mb_strimwidth() is not available on your server.

This function has been available and part of PHP since PHP 4 since 2003. WordPress currently requires PHP 7.3 or greater. This is why a broken PHP installation is the most likely culprit.

    How to fix?

If your host uses cPanel, then you can do the following. Log into your cPanel account and look for an option called “Select PHP Version” (or similar). IF your current PHP version is something less than 7, I recommend upgrading to 7.1 or 7.3. You will also see a list of PHP modules. Check to make sure that a module called mbstring is enabled. If you see that this module is not enabled, then we found the problem.

If you are not using cPanel or otherwise cannot do the above, then you’ll need to contact your host and get them to enable mbstring for you.

    Hi again!

    It works now! Great!

I have got questions / suggestions:
How to move / copy a question into another quiz?
How to copy the quiz’ setting into another quiz?
How make the setting of a quiz the default one?

    Thanks and greetings

Glad you were able to get the module working 🙂

How to move / copy a question into another quiz?
Easily! When editing a question, you will see three tabs (Main, Extra, and Quizzes). Select Quizzes to see a list of all quizzes you have. From there you can check off which quizzes you want to attach the question to.

How to copy the quiz’ setting into another quiz?
Unfortunately, there is no way, and there are no current plans to make this happen.

How make the setting of a quiz the default one?
Also currently not available, but it IS a planned feature update listed in the “Upcoming Features” section of the HD Quiz about/options page. No completion timeline yet, but I’d imagine it will be done in the next couple of months, after the next update to HD Quiz.

Again, you are very quick! Awesome!
Yes, indeed, moving / copying is easy!

Quiz settings, I do understand! Will be nice when it will be here!
    🙂

I keep on testing your great plugin!

    Thanks!
    Friendly greetings
