amp and youtube lyte
-
hi,
do you know a workaround that will get this plugin to work with ampforwp plugin?
https://www.saveatrain.com/blog/best-hot-springs-europe/because currently, the plugin doesn’t work, and just shows the httpv link
while on the desktop browser it works perfectly. The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

hmm, try using normal https:// youtube links instead of httpv:// which should allow (a) LYTE picking those up on normal pages and (b) ampforwp picking them up on amp pages?
worked like charm, thanks !
you’re welcome, feel free to leave a review of the plugin and support here! 🙂
done !
i found an issue with speed when i added it not as [lyte] embed, and by doing as a link as you suggested:
it says i have unused youtube css,
do you have a solution perhaps or can you create a fix if needed?hey,
i saw a new error that is related to youtube lyte

12 KBLYTE uses thumbnail URL’s as provided by the YouTube API, if the API returns jpegs, jpegs are used. The choice between jpeg and webp (or switching to the latter) is simply not in scope of LYTE I’m afraid.
hope this clarifies,
frankyou are doing an amazing work optimizing youtube, but with a simple addon you can make it perfect 🙂

i have another question, before using youtube lyte, yoast created schema for my videos, now it appears you are creating the schema, is that correct?
if i am wrong, sorry
if i am right, then
1. according to: https://longtailpro.com/how-to-use-video-schema-markup/
the way the schema is implemented is not correct (https://www.saveatrain.com/blog/5-reasons-night-trains/)
2. on google search console suddenly i don’t see any videos in the tab for videosThe video data is added by LYTE, and seems like Yoast doens’t indeed (guess they don’t “know” LYTE). If they do you could simply disable the microdata-option.
JSON/LD is one way, another is microdata which lyte uses. Google does understand it, as per https://search.google.com/structured-data/testing-tool#url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.saveatrain.com%2Fblog%2F5-reasons-night-trains%2F so no idea why you would not see video’s on GSC any more … :-/
as you usual thanks for the quick response:
if i examine https://www.saveatrain.com/blog/milan-rome-train/
then this is the schema i am seeing:
<div class=”lyMe” id=”WYL_R3YkP60ldhI” itemprop=”video” itemscope itemtype=”https://schema.org/VideoObject”><div><meta itemprop=”thumbnailUrl” content=”https://i.ytimg.com/vi/R3YkP60ldhI/hqdefault.jpg” /><meta itemprop=”embedURL” content=”https://www.youtube.com/embed/R3YkP60ldhI” /><meta itemprop=”uploadDate” content=”2016-09-15T19:19:36.000Z” /></div><div id=”lyte_R3YkP60ldhI” data-src=”https://i.ytimg.com/vi/R3YkP60ldhI/hqdefault.jpg” class=”pL”><div class=”tC”><div class=”tT” itemprop=”name”>Amazing MANTUA</div></div><div class=”play”></div><div class=”ctrl”><div class=”Lctrl”></div>the problem with that, is that it doesn’t have video title, or video descrption etc etc, and this is why i believe the videos stoped showing
* i emailed yoast to add support to youtube lyte, but with all honestly, i think its something you have to fix, when you have time 😁the problem with that, is that it doesn’t have video title, or video descrption etc
But it does, and Google does “see” it;

very odd, i am out of words but still disappointed its not showing on google search console 🙁
Ah, got it! You’re doing AMP on mobile, so LYTE is not active, and Google is using the mobile crawler to extract the data so AMP so no LYTE so no microdata ..
