    Hi,
I wanted to use wordfence on my client’s site. The client had concerns regarding the GDPR policies, so I just wanted to know that why does wordfence store the blacklisted and whitelisted IPs in files such as config-synced.php.Does it send the list of IPs that I blocked or whitelisted somewhere or is it just stored in the files and not sent anywhere?

    Thanks.

  • Hi @fuzailzubair97,

Wordfence has two methods of storing firewall data, using a file-system (/wflogs/) and using the database. By default, Wordfence stores whitelisted/blacklisted files using the file-system.

These files are not transferred to Wordfence servers.

On a related note, if you have the option Participate in the Wordfence security network enabled within Wordfence -> All Options: this will send the IP addresses of attackers that repeatedly attack your website. You can choose to disable this option at any time.

    Hi @fuzailzubair97,

We haven’t heard back from you in a while, so I’ve gone ahead and marked this thread as resolved.

Please feel free to open another thread if you’re still having issues with Wordfence.

    Thanks,

    Gerroald
