Fatal Error since 2.8.4

First thanks for your plugin
I recently uploaded it on a Worpress and add this PHP error everywhere :

Fatal error: Can't use method return value in write context in /var/www/clients/client28/web54/web/wp-content/plugins/wc-product-customer-list/views/table-customer-list.php on line 35

This appear to be a change active since 2.8.4 and explained by this answer

if ( ! empty( $data ) && ! empty( $data->get_meta_data() ) ) {

Line 35 is indeed using empty with a return value from a function as argument and I’m using PHP 5.4.45 and I can find nowhere a min required version for this plugin.
Is there one or could you fix this call ?
