[Plugin: Business Directory] Directory Plugin Doesn’t Work

    Hi,

    Just to warn everyone to avoid this plugin. It didn’t work for me, and looking through these posts, others had real problems. How on earth it has such a high rating in WordPress I just don’t know.

    Luckily for me (unlike other posters here) it didn’t break my site, but just didn’t do anything at all.

    As a developer myself I was horrified to learn they’d used PHP shorttags, as this is both disrespectful to the language and simply shows how unaware the developers must have been that many hosts will not be configured to recognise these sloppy standards.

    WordPress, I feel misled by your rating system.

    disrespectful? All languages evolve and short tags are what limited knowledge users need – they work just fine if done correctly. And if servers can’t handle them – where are they? The 3rd world?
    As for the rating system – users themselves rate the software, so I suppose you are in the minority.
    Wordpress is being used in over 3 million sites – yet some folks come here because it’s not working for them. I suppose we should just chunk it out by your standards.

    I feel your post is misleading against the software because you could’t figure it out.

    Short tags are still not good practice.

    Short tags are simply a short cut to writing good code and all in all a bad practice especially that there are 3 million installs of WP

    This repository should have some level of standards before allowing plugins through the door and to the public which trusts WordPress implicitly.
