    Hi, i’ve added my API and Place ID credentials, when i use the page with the short code to display customer review credentials, no results are displayed, there is 1 available. I can’t see any errors. Are there any diagnostics i can look at. When i switch on the demo, it works ok. Not sure how to progress this. Thanks, nigel

    Hi @webjoy,

    There is a way to report errors and warnings in the shortcode. Use the following:

    [reviews_rating errors=1]

    I would recommend clearing any restrictions on the Setup tab and leave off any restricting parameters in the shortcode.

    If you still have no joy, please clear the Cache in the Advanced tab.

    Just one more point – the Google review plugin on the page isn’t this one…

    I am marking this as Resolved because the place you’ve listed doesn’t have any relevant reviews returned by the Google API.

    This is the information returned in the Retrieved Data tab for your Place:

    {
       "html_attributions" : [],
       "result" : {
          "icon" : "https://maps.gstatic.com/mapfiles/place_api/icons/generic_business-71.png",
          "name" : "Odd Job Octopus",
          "rating" : 5,
          "url" : "https://maps.google.com/?cid=12427544641097180011",
          "user_ratings_total" : 1,
          "vicinity" : "57 Wyedean Rise, Hereford"
       },
       "status" : "OK"
    }

    You can see it only shows the overall rating. I included the Retrieved Data for administrators to see what is and isn’t collected. Going to the View Reviews link, it mirrors the data here. This one is pretty clear.

    Once Google has received a review (with text) it will start returning individual reviews. For the moment, I recommend using the Badge theme to display the overall information.

    Hi, when I look at http://octokleen.com/contact-us then the google map there displays that there is 1 review. The diagnostic info you supplied me with didn’t display any errors? I’ve successfully used another plugin which seems to work for customer-reviews click on Testimonials and then follow the link. Thanks, nigel

    There are no errors. One person left a 5 star rating. Google doesn’t return this as an individual review and it doesn’t show in their review popup.

    The other plugin isn’t showing any reviews, only the overall summary (like the Badge theme in this plugin).

    If i wanted to display the content of the individual review is this possible? I was unable to see an id to do this?

    It is possible when you have actual reviews to display. Please check either the retrieved data or the Reviews popup in Google. There are none at the moment.

    You can use the Demo mode to preempt how future reviews will appear on your website. For now, I’d recommend the Badge theme that summarises your business.

    There is one review which i can see when i click on the google reviews window, and it shows the review pop up. Are you talking about this? Maybe there is a bug in the API which only works when there is >1. Perhaps you could leave me a review there as i’ve already left a review. I’ve used your demo which is great but i want to test this out for the business. many thanks for your time, Nigel

    I’ve clicked the link to view your Google Reviews – it doesn’t list anything other than the summary.

    There is no bug, the data needed to show reviews simply isn’t there.

    I’ll use your Place ID to add a new notice to state this more clearly so others in a similar situation (new business with no written reviews) will understand.

    For now, i would recommend testing with the dummy data and perhaps set the Theme to Badge and set to show no reviews if you want to display something to the public.

    All the best,

    Noah

    Thanks for your help Noah. Just a little frustrating when it doesn’t seem to work despite trying.
