Reset your permalinks in the Settings/Permalinks and see if that helps.

I’ll chime in with that. I have a blog on http://blog.eminorin.net/ and whenever I want to sort the blog by category, access the archive or just go to the comments section of a post or show a single post it doesn’t do that. It just changes the URL but it shows the front page.
I am too using 2.8.4.
And yes, although that is not the issue with me only the default permalinks work, even after I alter the .htaccess file and change permissions. I also activated the mod_rewrite plugin.
The difference between my problem and the one of the threadstarter, as I noticed just now, is that his links lead to a dead end while mine just go back to the front page.
Is it possible that it has something to do with the persmission for the files?
