How to remove duplicate Meta Descriptions please?

Hey guys, so Ubersuggest SEO Audit is showing 15 pages with duplicate meta descriptions and someone has now found why. He said:

I just checked two pages on that site, and they both have duplicate meta descriptions. They look to be the default meta descriptions from WordPress:

<meta name=”description” content=”Just another WordPress site” />

Oh shoot each page has (2) meta descriptions lol, the one you wrote and the WordPress one. You just need to remove the auto WordPress meta descriptions from each page.

But I am not seeing that “Just another WordPress site” meta description anywhere on any page in the dashboard, help please?

That’s your tagline, set at Settings > General in your site’s Dashboard.

You can change its content there, but it won’t change its behavior.

To change that, you’ll need an SEO plugin like https://wordpress.org/plugins/wordpress-seo/

The Tagline field in General settings is empty so that can’t be it?

I have SEO Press installed but not understanding how to change that in SEO Press?

In that case, I recommend asking at https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/wp-seopress/ so the plugin’s developers and support community can help you with this.

ok thanks, will do. Only other option I am seeing is to not have any SEO plugin and use the default WP meta fields?

You can, that will allow you to edit the content of the tagline again, but it won’t allow you to control where it appears.

Sorry not understanding what you mean by “control where it appears”?

As the screenshot shows, the meta fields are separate:

The tagline appears on every page, unless its behavior is modified by a plugin. Most SEO plugins provide customization as to where and how it appears.
