Smartslider 3 – weird padding beneath slider

These white spaces issues are usually related to the parent element of the slider. For example the slider is published into a row with a column and either that row or the column have a margin or padding.

So what I would suggest first is checking the HTML structure of your site, so you can find out where that empty gap is exactly coming from.
In Google Chrome you could hover over that empty gap, press right click and choose Inspect, like you see here too: https://smartslider3.helpscoutdocs.com/article/318-chrome#code
