I am loving your plug-in, but having difficulty editing the content.

I can choose a table to edit, but can only expand a cell in one column for editing. I must save, choose, and re-open to expand a cell in a different column for editing. Is there a trick I should know?

I can get some partial success if the first cell I open big enough to reveal all the content of all the cells in that row — but this doesn’t work 100% for me when I move to cells in other rows. I think there is a trick to doing this that I need to know.

Thanks, and thanks for your excellent plug-in!

    Hi,

thanks for your post, and sorry for the trouble.

I’m not sure that I understand. What do you mean with “expand” here?
Does this happen with other web browsers as well? If so, can you maybe somehow record a video/screencast of the problem?

This video show me expanding first column, but then struggling to expand the others for easy editing in a larger window.

Watch full minute and you will see that I occasionally succeed. So it might be some kind of cock-pit error that I cannot figure out. So, it’s frustrating…

    Thanks for looking!

This morning I cannot duplicate my problem. Perhaps it fixed itself with a reboot? I will be working with it this weekend and will report back if I can duplicate problem again.
Thanks for your excellent support. Reading the comments you provide others helps me as well!

    Hi,

thanks for the video! This is indeed a bit strange… But good to hear that the issue is gone for now.

Note that you don’t have to drag each cell bigger, but could simply click into it to have it enlarge automatically. In addition, you could increase the default size by using the TablePress Extension from https://tablepress.org/extensions/input-field-size/

    Well, not quite …
I probably dump a lot more code into cells in one column than you’re anticipating.
    https://financinglife.org/best-books-on-investing/best-investing-books-of-all-time/

    (1) If I simply click into the cell it does expand to some preset height, but not enough to see all the code I have in there.
    (2) If I edit via /extensions/input-field-size then all the columns grow to that size, whereas I only need to focus on one column. So I think I need to manually drag that column to be wider, right?

However, in the process I did discover the extension to sort row order! Awesome! You have made me quite a fan of your plug-in. I sent you a donation and I’ll go give you top rating right now.

    Hi,

ah, ok. Yes, if you have large text/code in the cells, expanding the size manually is probably indeed the best.

The Input Field Size Extension could be modified to only affect one column, but that would need some code modification in it.

And thanks a lot for the donation and rating, I really appreciate it!

    Regards,
    Tobias
