Theme not listed under Appearance v2.8.4

    After having some problems getting my theme to upload ( see here )

    The uploaded theme does not appear under the appearance section so i can’t start using it/

    Any ideas?

    Does the theme folder include style.css, index.php and functions.php files? I’m pretty sure that last one is also now required.

    I didn’t have a functions.php. I have added that but it is still not showing in the list. But when i click on the visit site the theme i have uploaded is there but the appearance section is still saying curren theme is wordpress default.

    I’m at a loss of what to do.

    Functions file isn’t required…

    I just renamed my functions file to confirm (i was curious), theme still functioned, with exception to the fact certain now non-existent functions from that file were lobbing up errors..

    Function does not exist, etc etc etc… 🙂

    Temporarily rename your stylesheet to say style-old.css, now copy one from another theme (doesn’t matter which), now see if it shows up (obviously with the name of the other theme) …quick way to test if it’s being problamtic with the stylesheet.. 🙂

    Hi t31os_

    I followed your instructions and it was recognised.

    After some tinkering i was able to get it to recognise my file. I have created my style.css in notepad, i copied this into wordpad and uploaded all was ok.

    I was not aware that notepad/wordpad would make a difference.
