On Backorder – Not Working

Hi folks,
When I change a product status to “On Backorder”, it makes no difference to it being “In Stock”.
Customers can still order the product. I thought it was supposed to display a message and offer customers to be notified by email when more stock arrives?

It looks like you have your product set so customers can purchase even when on backorder:
Link to image: https://cld.wthms.co/GEEjv8That is the messaging that customers would see to notify that it’s out of stock, but they can still order it.
There is this Waitlist plugin that would notify customers: https://woocommerce.com/products/woocommerce-waitlist/
