JS broken in IE11 when cached

    Using Total Cache in the Disk Enhanced method it appears not to be working with IE11, javascript files on the website seem to break and not load.

    It previously worked in the past so I am not sure what has changed with the plugin or otherwise but I have confirmed that if I disable the caching then it will work with IE11 but not with it enabled.

    All other browsers seem to work fine, Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Safari are all working correctly. It is only Internet Explorer 11 that appears to be the problem.

    Any ideas?

    I am sorry for the issue you are having in with your website in IE11 but I am happy to assist you with this.
    Is W3 Total Cache currently enabled on your website?
    When did this issue start to occur?

    w3 Total Cache is currently enabled.

    I am not sure when this issue started but sometime within the last 2-3 months.

    If you visit the site – spartonre.com with IE11 you will see that it is throwing all kinds of JS errors in the console.

    This is only happening with IE11, in all other browsers it is working fine.

    Hello,

    I’ve added a random query string to your URL i.e. https://www.spartonre.com/?asdsadgs
    When the random query string is added it is showing the page without cache.
    When I added this, those “‘jQuery’ is undefined” errors are still there.
    Can you please disable Minify and purge all caches? see if those errors persist.

    If I disable the JS Minify it works in IE11 but once I re-enable it then it breaks again.

    The settings I have for JS Minify are:

    < / head > Default (blocking)
    < body > Default (blocking)
    Combine only
    HTTP/2 Push – Enabled

    Hello @zerokarma,

    Can you please disable HTTP/2 Push. While combining CSS and JS into the fewer file is considered a best practice under HTTP/1, that’s not necessarily the case with HTTP/2.

    I disabled the HTTP/2 Push but this problem is still happening in IE11 with JS minify enabled.

    If I disable the JS portion of minify it will work with IE11.

    Hello @zerokarma,

    The problem appears to be with deferring scripts. Http2 push works with other browsers, so jQuery is loaded before other scripts. In IE11, some scripts might take longer to load and they’re not processed in the order you describe them. You should put jQuery in the head and all other in the body, that should force the browser to always process jQuery first.
