We are having a problem when we try to post an article on Facebook. Facebook can not always pull the Featured Image. It will pull the title and description, but not the image. This just started recently (sine installing LS Cache). We have found that deactivating LS Cache clears up the problem. But that means that we have to deactivate every time we post on Facebook then reactivate again.

I read an old support thread that said to just disable HTML minify, but that didn’t help either – and according to the thread, that bug was fixed.

    Any ideas?

This seems to be the entry in the Debug Log when I tried to post this url on Facebook:

  • Hi @kallym ,

I checked the issue and it seems like it is more of an issue with your CDN, It is not allowing the Image to be downloaded.

Provided og:image, https://cdn.yourdomain.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/XXXXXXXXXX.jpg could not be downloaded. This can happen due to several different reasons such as your server using unsupported content-encoding. The crawler accepts deflate and gzip content encodings.

I then tried to fetch the Image manually using the tool here – https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/sharing/

But I am getting a response Code of 0, and that is why I think it is because of the NetDNA CDN configured.

Can you disable CDN settings inside Litespeed, Purge Cache and then try to fetch the URL?

Sorry, I didn’t get back to you sooner. Disabling the CDN does not work. Facebook is still seeing the cdn url. Running through the debugger a few times fixes it, but, unless this problem is resolved we will need to do this every time a post is made (several times a week) so that won’t work.

I read another thread with the same problem https://wordpress.org/support/topic/image-linking-and-facebook-issues-with-cdn-turned-on/. It is marked as resolved, but the last comment on the thread says the problem still exists. So it is evidently not resolved. Are there any updates on this?

We use MaxCDN with LiteSpeed Cache 2.9.85

    Thank You!

    Hi @kallym ,

I noticed that your cdn.yourdomain.com does not have a proper SSL installed, Can you correct it once and then we can try and re-check if it looks all good?

You can check your SSL here – https://www.sslshopper.com/ssl-checker.html
