    Hello,

We were wondering if the Product Catalog plugin has been tested with the Divi Theme and Visual Builder. We are experiencing a weird occurrence since the plugin has been installed and used (3 days. It is the only new plugin we have recently added. When we manually add new products we are now getting an error message after clicking save:

“The page you are trying to access is restricted due to a security rule.

If you believe the security rule is affecting the normal operation of your website, contact your host support team and provide detailed instructions on how to recreate this error. They will be able to assist you with rectifying the problem and adjusting the security configuration if needed.”

Any help would be great! We just finished getting the whole plugin formatted and ready to go. We really want this to work. We are using the free version right now with the 6 day trial.

  • Hi dreamwishblog,

The error that you are getting above is usually not due to the plugin. If you’re getting a “security rule” error, then it is likely caused by either some kind of restriction that’s been placed directly in your site or at the hosting level.

Do you have any security plugins installed? Or maybe caching plugins that also have security-like features? Or do you have any plugins installed that restrict user accesses and roles?

You should also look in your .htaccess file to see if there is any code in there that would affect this (or ask your hosting provider/web developer to do this in case you’re not sure how to access/read an .htaccess file).

    Hello,

We figured it out. The error is a hosting error but it was triggered when using the plugin with our Divi Theme / Visual Builder. To solve the problem our hosting whitelisted the particular rule.

“It appears that a particular action executed by the script triggered a security rule part of the mod_security apache mechanism. I have whitelisted this particular rule for your site and you updating products now works as expected.”

This fixed the issue with the plugin not working and the other issues we were having on the backend but it did not fix the issues with using the Divi Visual Builder. It remained functional but slow, missing aspects of the modules, and glitchy. The workaround was to build pages and posts in “Safe Mode”.

Thank you for your reply and help.
