• Hi all, apologies in advance for lack of knowledge.
Brand new to wordpress and website design in general…

I have recently set up a wordpress managed hosting through godaddy to build away in the background before abandoning a wix hosted one. This came with a free domain so currently working on a domain with no ssl before connecting my main domain.

All was going well after getting up and running with a theme, then all of a sudden I started to have access issues when trying to access wordpress dashboard (mysite.co.uk/wp-admin) returning the message:

    Not Found
The requested URL /wp-admin/ was not found on this server.

Sometimes wp-admin isn’t there and just shows “The requested URL / was not found…”

I have tried speaking with Godaddy several times assuring me everything was okay and it works. I’ve tried on multiple devices on home network with no luck, even on my works network with no luck now. My mobile on it’s own internet however does work, and now only way to access is using vpn extension ‘hola’… however these appear to fail shortly after trying to upload any images etc. and have to refresh.

The latest error when connecting through a vpn is uploading imnages and just keeps returning “http error”.

Godaddy told me just to do a full system scan and restart and it will be fine (clearly not the case) and haven’t been much help since.

I’ve trawled through the forums and tried many things such as clean wordpress files loaded through ftp which I can access. I’ve tried to redefine the site url in this way too. I’ve disabled plugins, themes, etc.etc. with no luck. Backup roll back to site before issue didn’t seem to help either.

I’m now completely at a loss and feel like I’ve exhausted the options available to me as a newbie. Any support would be greatly appreciated! 🙂

When I try to access your wp-admin page, I get a 500 error.

Errors like this are logged. Check the error log on your server. If you can’t find the log, please contact your host.

Meantime, enable wp_debug and wp_debug_log and after an error, look at wp-content/debug.log to see if anything gets logged there. https://codex.wordpress.org/Debugging_in_WordPress

You can also try this: Please attempt to disable all plugins, and use one of the default (Twenty*) themes. If the problem goes away, enable them one by one to identify the source of your troubles.

If you cannot access wp-admin, there are other ways to deactivate plugins.
