• Hi there

    I am relatively new to Plesk as I have mostly been using Cpanel and in the case of Plesk, what appears to be the latest version for shared hosting, only made new websites on it.

    I this case, there’s just something I do not get. I created a subdomain via Cpanel, then uploaded site files made with the Duplicator plugin to transfer a site. For a reason I do not understand, the “installer.php” file only led to a blank page. Same with any php file, including one with phpinfo script I tested. Pure html or image or zip files could be loaded, but no php. It took hours of GAMBLING, until it worked, probably after trying to do an automatic new install of WordPress, using one of the Plesk scripts, then in the created folder, run the installer script inserted there with the Duplicator files.

    One thing I do not understand is why any simple php script just will not run in a manually created folder, meaning as things stand, I cannot even install WordPress manually.

    I had for example a test site in a folder of a main site I managed to transfer with duplicator but forgot to create duplicator files for it.

    Now with its files in the site.com/testsite, the setting it had before, no php file placed in /testsite will run. This would never happen with Cpanel or when using Xampp as long as the apache server was running. I just get a blank page.

    What extra configuration do you need with Plesk for shared hosting so simple PHP files, not necessarily connected to any CMS in a manually created folder can run?? Of course if any simple php file can run, only then does it make sense to use the DB, which however is no good with php not running and is not the issue.

    I have an existing test/development site and would not like starting it from scratch again.

    Here a cryptic error message in Firefox debugger:

    Error loading this URI: Protocol error (unknownError): Could not load the source for http://www.site.com/testsite/.
    [Exception… “Component returned failure code: 0x80470002 (NS_BASE_STREAM_CLOSED) [nsIInputStream.available]” nsresult: “0x80470002 (NS_BASE_STREAM_CLOSED)” location: “JS frame :: resource://devtools/shared/DevToolsUtils.js :: onResponse :: line 555” data: no]
    Stack: onResponse@resource://devtools/shared/DevToolsUtils.js:555:34
    onStopRequest@resource://gre/modules/NetUtil.jsm:123:17
    Line: 555, column: 0

    As said this test site is a folder of a functioning WordPress site I transferred before.

    This is a Plesk panel issue (shared host) involving php. What does the cryptic error message suggest or for those who use Plesk panel (shared hosting) … why would php not run in a subdomain folder OR as in the above case, a site in a folder inside a functioning WordPress site.

    Thank you in advance.
