Wordfence Central & Slack
-
Hi everybody,
Does anybody knows how to integrate Wordfence Central with Slack?
I see some instructions in my dashboard but they are really unclear:

Thanks in advance!

Hey @kingcarter,
First, you’ll want to enable the Slack options in Central. You’ll find them here in the Settings by clicking the gear icon next in the top right corner.
https://www.wordfence.com/help/central/settings/
Then in your Slack Workspace, you’ll need to install the Incoming Webhooks app. In the right sidebar at the bottom, you’ll notice the App link.
Once you’ve installed and configured the app (Slack will walk you through it) You’ll receive a URL to enter at the very bottom of the Settings page back over in Central. Once you’ve done this, you’ll be good to go.
Please let me know if this gives you a little more context to the article below. Once you find your way to the areas you need to be at to get started Slack will walk you through everything.

Please let me know how it goes, and enjoy!
Thanks,

Hey @wfgerald,
Thanks for your reply. Much appreciated.
I already have incoming-webhook installed – but it’s configured to work with StatusCake.
It’s possible to use the incoming-webhook app to receive messages from Wordfence Central and StatusCake also?
For the Wordfence Central I already have a channel created named #wordfence.
Let me know man.
Thanks in advance!
Cheers.
Hey @kingcarter,
I spoke with the developers to double check this, you should definitely be able to run multiple services with the app. But you can only use one webhook per channel. Are you creating unique webhook URLs for each service?
Thanks,
Gerroald
Hey @wfgerald,
Thanks for your reply again man – much appreciated.
Hmmm… don’t know what to say here.
If I change the “Post to Channel” to #wordfence – the Webhook URL stays the same.
Maybe change “Post to Channel” to #wordfence and then regenerate the Webhook URL and Save Settings!?
I’m here:

Let me know if I’m on the right track.
Thanks again.
Cheers!
Hey @kingcarter,
You can try regenerating it, I honestly haven’t tested this with other apps. But speaking with the developers it definitely should work. Is this webhook unique from the other one you use?
It’s also worth mentioning Slack has been having some issues today. I’m not sure it’s related, but I thought I’d mention it.
Please let me know how it goes.
Thanks,
Gerroald
Hey @wfgerald,
Sorry for the late reply man… was a little busy.
I see a single app for both channels… which is “incoming-webhook”…
Changed to post to #wordfence and the webhook URL is still the same as for #statuscake… saved settings… now when I’m in the #statuscake channel – the settings for the incoming-webhook is to post on #wordfence.
This is really weird… whatever setting(s) I’m changing in the “incoming-webhook” settings it affects both channels.
I don’t really need THAT bad this Slack integration… but it just easier for me to read the notifications π
Let me know your thoughts!
Cheers!
Hey @wfgerald,
Quick update. I think I’ve got it.
All I needed was to create an individual Slack app just for Wordfence.
Enabled Slack in Wordfence Central and add the incoming-webhook.
Now all I need to do is to wait to receive the messages.
Will keep you updated.
Thanks again for your help.
Much appreciated.

Hey @kingcarter,
My apologies, I was out for a few days due to the holiday. But thanks for the update, and please do let me know how it goes. This can definitely be helpful for others.
Thanks,
Gerroald
Hey @wfgerald,
Just tested it – and yes – I’m receiving the messages in the #wordfence channel.
That was the thing that fixed all this – to create an individual app just for Wordfence and from there was really simple.
Thanks again for your help. Much appreciated!
All the best.
Cheers!
