Every theme and site is different. Sorta difficult to help when we can’t see what it is you’re referring to. So yes, that would be great. Is it an off canvas menu?

ok doing now… if you click on a post you will see how big the menu is… I am tempted to delete it all but maybe just making it half the sizze.. Not sure I like that it makes it look like a traditional blog you see…

yes.. It’s just a bit big..
You could add padding but this is a responsive design and you’d have to add media queries for all other devices. If you’re not familiar with CSS in a responsive framework I suggest learning from here and here

It’s not really. It’s a little bit of CSS here and there but learning how to target specific devices and how the site should appear in them.
The theme you are using is doing it right.
