archive-download.php, tag.php not working/ignored | WordPress.org

a year ago, this thread https://wordpress.org/support/topic/pull-in-edd-categories-into-a-post-archive-page/ states archive-download.php was working, but mine seems to be ignored, as is my tag.php in my theme directory.

what’s the majick incantation?

renaming my archive-download.php to archive.php fixes the problem…fortunately that’s the only post type i’m displaying with archive

Thanks for the page link. It is a Download Tag page.

You need to create this file for the provided page taxonomy-download_tag.php

This is based on WordPress template hierarchy structure. You can refer this documentation for more help https://developer.wordpress.org/themes/basics/template-hierarchy/

archive-download.php is called when we see product archive page. For example : https://letartliveon.com/downloads/

so nothing to do with archive, then;-}
thanx, i’ve added logic to my archive.php to handle both tags & categories…
