Hi @web040506,
You can backup the theme’s functions.php file and then manually install a clean copy of the theme’s functions.php file to be able to activate Wordfence.
Then follow our site cleaning guide below:
https://www.wordfence.com/docs/how-to-clean-a-hacked-wordpress-site-using-wordfence/
https://www.wordfence.com/help/scan/scan-results/
The activity report email feature does include file modifications but only if Wordfence is active.
Thank you.
Hey @web040506,
I’m sorry to hear you’re experiencing this, I know how frustrating it can be.
My best suggestion is to update all credentials including WordPress, (s)FTP, database, and cPanel/hosting. You might reach out to your host for their thoughts, they may be able to see something in the logs. If this happens again I’d suggest getting with a hack repair service to have the site professionally cleaned and the point of entry patched.

Wordfence will scan all of your files looking for malicious code, and will alert you when it finds something suspicious.

Thanks,
Gerald

My site is down! I’m losing business! HELP!!!!
I get this error when I try to go to my site
Fatal error: Unknown: Failed opening required ‘/home2/lovefrom/public_html/wordfence-waf.php’ (include_path=’.:/opt/cpanel/ea-php70/root/usr/share/pear’) in Unknown on line 0
I can’t even login to my wordpress. My hosting provider has tried to disable the plugin, but nothing works. I’ve re-installed a backup copy of my site through cpanel and filezilla. I still get this message.
Hey @lovefro1,
I’m sorry to hear you’re experiencing this, but I don’t think it’s a Wordfence plugin issue.
Do you have a backup to restore from?
Have you asked your host to look into possible a possible compromise?
If you’d like to attempt a clean up yourself have you looked over wfphil’s recommendations?
