• The symptoms are that the site goes down, and serves an error message saying there is a database error.

Can not login to the admin side, it says to repair the database,
Do that, after following the instruction to change wp_config, and this is the result:

wpmr_usermeta: 1 client is using or hasn’t closed the table properly
wpmr_posts: 1 client is using or hasn’t closed the table properly
wpmr_options: Table is marked as crashed
wpmr_postmeta: 7 clients are using or haven’t closed the table properly

Says to post this here for suggestions. Haven’t upgraded to 5.1 yet in case it complicates matters.

Any generic troubleshooting pointers would be much appreciated.

(After the repair, the site works as normal, till the next time it happens.)

  • If you have access to the server or control panel , can you reboot the mysql database server ?
Try doing it & access the site.
Post screenshots if you find any errors.
    Thanks.

    Hi Sundar,
Many thanks for the reply. It’s a shared server, so I can’t reboot, but after the repair I do have access to the site and everything works as normal.
This has happened twice in the last month, don’t know why.

    Oh ok..
My question , when you say once its repaired , it works as normal .
Then after sometime you encounter the same database error ?
By question during this time , did you try updating WP Core / Themes / Plugins ?

Can you please post the Site URL ?
Also send the screenshot of the error when you get.
That will helps us to identify the problem.

    Thanks.

Hi, and thanks again for your time. Yes, That is correct. It’s happened twice so far, so I assume there is a problem. I haven’t updated anything yet in case it complicates things further. Unfortunately, I have repaired now and everything is working properly again, so I can’t screenshot the error to you.

Gr8 to hear it works now.
Please take a back-up immediately , so that you can recover if things break again.

    Thanks
