• Hello:

I’ve had a WordPress blog installed on my domain at Yahoo and it’s been working fine until today.

The blog is here and the problem is this. I was editing the last post when WordPress suddenly gave me the ‘Install’ screen. It now acts like I no longer exist and asks if I wish to intall it.

The blog is still there at http://blog.dickdestiny.com but login just asks me if I want to install like it’s new. And the internal links to the blog’s structure are all broken.

I’m gathering this is a database problem? Something became corrupted.

However, it’s unclear what needs restoration. Yahoo has snapshot backups but I’m unsure which file or files need looking at for restoration.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Sincerely,

    George Smith

  • Hi,

-> Check htaccess of your file and remove all unwanted codes from there..

-> disable all plugins from database

-> upgrade wordpress to the latest version

    Thanks,

    Shane G.

Perhaps I was unclear. Log in just gets me to a fresh install screen. I don’t even get asked to input login and password, although all that is still in my database, according to myPHP administration program.

As for .htacess, I can’t see it.

Ah, I host on Yahoo and .htacess isn’t even allowed on it. However, the blog has been working fine, so the problem is something else. And I can’t do an upgrade because I can’t get in to my WordPress dashboard.

More narrowly, the problem is this. Trying to login in always brings up the install.php file. I looked in the database using the PHP administrator and every table is there. However, -wp_options_ isn’t
accessible. When trying to browse, the administrator returns an error.

What do I do now? Reinstall?

Resolved. Problem was with a crashed/munged wp_options table in the database. A repair through the php administrator fixed it.

However, why it crashed is a bit of a mystery.
