All I am doing is using the link button in the add a new post section, I then copy the url and WP does the rest, I hit publish and no link. Just the text about the link and article etc.
You are doing something wrong or maybe the theme you are using has css rules which makes the linked text look same as the other normal text.
Did you try hovering over those linked texts?

I use the close tag button also and it did add the tags, still the link will not appear in my post?
