Login details are all correct.
This could actually be a good thing… Your site might be getting too busy for the hardware you have available.
If WordPress works mostly then it’s time to have a chat with your web host about upgrading or running a split server where the database resides on one box (or more) and the website resides on another.
You might consider running on CloudFlare to maybe take up some slack and looking at a CDN and a caching plugin to help.
I’de be happy and willing to throw a few dollars at the problem if it was mine.
It may be an issue at your host also… either way your first step is to talk with them.

I agree
I have been pushing the client to move from a shared server to a dedicated one. I think that may solve this and some other performance issues!!

Hi
We already have the website and database running on separate servers, so their must be another solution to this intermittent connection error. Any ideas?
Thanks
Earl
