• Hi there, I have a multisite running and I am trying to add a new site. After adding a new site, I am unable to access the site. Going to the url will bring up error establishing a database connection. Also, I checked the database and there were no new tables created for the new site. I only see the new site added as a row to the wp_blogs table. Any ideas?

Running WordPress 4.8.3, unfortunately cannot update to latest version at the momement

    Much appreciated
    Eric

  • I’d suspect there is an important part of the WordPress core missing.

You might try finding a copy of whatever version you have and manually reinstalling that overtop of what you have. Do a good backup before you do anything else if you don’t already have a good, recent backup.

I’m concerned that multisite won’t ever work there now that something has misfired.

I’m curious as to why you can’t upgrade.

I’d want to be running the latest – greatest myself… but then again I’m building a new multisite this week… I might find out 5.1 won’t work for me or won’t run a mission-critical plugin under multisite. You never know. I haven’t built a multisite on 5.1 before.

If you need to, reinstall upgrade to 5.1 and run the WP-Downgrade plugin to get back to your prefered version but I’ve never used WP-Downgrade on a networked (multisite) site.
